What is CTR?
CTR stands for click-through rate: the percentage of people who see your result and actually click on it.

If you rank in position 4 and a thousand people see your result, and fifty click, your CTR is 5%. You can find this in Google Search Console for each keyword and page.
CTR is primarily determined by your position, your title, your description, and whether an AI answer or ads appear above it.

Why it matters
A low CTR in a good position means easy wins: the same ranking, a better title, more traffic. That works within days rather than months.
It is also a clear signal: if nobody clicks despite ranking high, your page evidently does not match the search intent.
How we approach it
Every month, we identify the pages with high impressions and few clicks, and rewrite their title and description.
We keep it honest: no clickbait that causes immediate bounces, because that ultimately costs you rankings.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good CTR?
In position 1, often 20 to 30%; in position 5, just 3 to 6%. For branded searches, it should be significantly higher.
Does CTR affect my ranking?
Indirectly. Google uses behavioural signals, but artificially inflating CTR is not a strategy; relevance is.
